We offer four cosmetic treatments at our Calgary clinic. Porcelain and composite veneers reshape teeth that are chipped, worn, uneven, or discoloured. No-prep veneers achieve a similar change with little to no removal of healthy enamel. Professional teeth whitening lifts staining from coffee, tea, wine, and time. Clear aligners move teeth into better alignment without fixed brackets.
Which one suits you depends on what is actually causing the concern. Discolouration alone may only need whitening. Wear and chipping usually points to veneers, and sometimes to a bite issue worth addressing first. We would rather tell you that than sell you a smile makeover you do not need.
Four ways we change the appearance of a smile, and what each one is actually for.
Thin, custom-made porcelain or composite coverings bonded to the front of your teeth to change their colour, shape, and alignment. Porcelain is highly stain resistant and shaped in a lab. Composite is sculpted directly onto the tooth, often in a single visit.
Ultra-thin ceramic shells bonded over your existing enamel, usually with no drilling, no needles, and no removal of healthy tooth structure. A good option when the change you want is achievable without reshaping the teeth underneath.
Professional Opalescence whitening, in-office or take-home, tailored to your enamel and your sensitivity. Stronger and more predictable than over-the-counter strips, with a formula that includes potassium nitrate and fluoride to limit sensitivity.
A series of custom, removable trays that move teeth gradually into better alignment. Removable for eating and cleaning, and far less visible than fixed brackets, with a plan mapped out before you start.
Cosmetic work sits on top of dental health, not beside it. Before we plan veneers or whitening, we want your gums and enamel in good condition, which usually starts with dental hygiene and teeth cleanings.
If your teeth are wearing unevenly, or your bite is doing damage you have not noticed yet, proactive dentistry looks for the cause before we change the appearance. In more involved cases, where multiple teeth have worn down or the bite has collapsed, full-mouth rehabilitation rebuilds function and appearance together.
That order matters. Cosmetic results placed over an untreated bite problem tend to chip, debond, or wear at the same rate the natural teeth did. Getting the sequence right is most of what separates work that lasts from work that has to be redone.
